Performed with original music by an American & Ugandan ensemble, MARIA KIZITO tells the story of a Rwandan genocidaire, the young nun Maria Kizito as mediated by a young American nun who attends her trial. Kizito and her Mother Superior were convicted of the complicity in the deaths of 7,000 refugees who sought asylum at their convent.

With a murky mix of desire, jealousy and emancipatory yearning, THE MURDER BALLAD gives forceful physical life to Jelly Roll Morton's legendary 1938 recording.
