Groundbreaking contemporary performance through innovative approaches to collaboration, technology and social engagement.
LARS JAN / EARLY MORNING OPERA
Originally commissioned and presented by The Whitney Museum in 2010, BOMBING is a live multi-media event that defies genre and expectation. The performance is a heartfelt exploration of the iconic fears of this moment in America, refracted through the lenses of celebrity, protest, advertising, the art market, and memorialization.
In the tradition of Dr. Strangelove, BOMBING leverages humor to expose the absurdity in our collective social paranoia. What's more, BOMBING transforms the often overheard “I could do that” in modern art museums into a statement on our collective capacity for violence.
BOMBING can be staged in any gallery or open black box setting. No audience seating is required. A musical quartet is needed in each city, along with a handful of local performers. Three days of local rehearsals should be factored into the schedule.
